Free Blog- National Championship

The national championship was really bad this year. I was anticipating a really good game because both teams were evenly matched. Texas dominated in the beginning with turnovers but they kept kicking field goals instead of scoring touchdowns. When Colt McCoy got injured, it ruined the game. I felt really bad for him because it was his last game and he had waited 4 years to be in the national championship game. After he got hurt they put a freshman in and all they did was run the ball because Texas didn’t want to make a mistake. I could not understand why Texas decided to throw a shovel pass at the end of the half with only seconds remaining. The interception for a touchdown seemingly ruined any chance they had at coming back. In the second half Alabama played really safe to make sure they didn’t make any mistakes or turnovers. I think it almost cost them the game because Texas came back to be only down by three. I was amazed on how the Texas quarterback played in the 4th quarter. He threw two touchdowns and was hitting all of his receivers. If Texas wouldn’t have wasted the first half by playing conservative, maybe he would have gotten in sync earlier and they would have had a better chance to win. The whole game was really boring to watch until the 4th quarter when Texas mounted a huge comeback. It was really cool when Shipley scored a touchdown with about 6 minutes left and then Texas got the two point conversion to cut it to a 3 point lead. When Alabama got the ball back they were able to move it down the field which gave Texas bad field position. When Texas got the ball back with about 3 minutes left, I thought I was about to see and epic drive with the true freshman quarterback beating no.1 Alabama but he got sacked, fumbled, and Alabama recovered. Texas still had a chance with 2 timeouts left if they stopped Alabama from scoring a touchdown but on 3rd down the Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram scored a touchdown which sealed the victory. I think Alabama deserved to win the championship after beating Florida in the SEC Championship game but they did not play good in the National Championship and were really lucky McCoy got hurt. I hope next year’s game is way better than this one and that Michigan is in it.
